St. Louis Post Dispatch? I've got a shovel full of shut the fuck up for you.

I want to say that the snow has stopped falling.  For now.  I know that at least where I am, the road crews have been out all night working to clear roads.  That’s fine, but there is an 11 mile stretch of road that kept me from getting home yesterday.  I wonder if it’s been cleared.  And if it has?  How am I going to get there?  My car?  Stuck in snow 15 miles from here.

The news reported yesterday that Interstate 70 was closed from St. Louis to Kansas City.  The one major highway in the state that connects to east to the west, and it’s closed due to snow.

Then, today?  St. Louis Post Dispatch is claiming “Storm fails to meet epic billing.”  I don’t know who you have writing this bullshit but to borrow a phrase from Aunt Becky, Shut Your Whore Mouth.  This snow?  Shut down an entire interstate.  At 1:30 yesterday afternoon?  I was standing knee deep in snow clearing the ice from my windshield so I could see.  KNEE DEEP!

Maybe in St. Louis it failed to meet expectations.  Up here?  In Lincoln County?  It far exceeded expectations.  Mother-Fucking-Nature really outdid herself up here.

And in Mid-Mo where the girls’ dad lives?  He’s ass deep in snow.  ASS FUCKING DEEP.

So, to you St. Louis Post Dispatch reporter who says Snowmageddon 2011 failed to meet it’s epic billing?  I’ve got a shovel full of shut the fuck up for you.

Ok, Mother-Effing-Nature, you win, this round.

This is where I am riding out the Snowpacalypse.

Stupid, stupid me thought I got this made.  I can totally get to work today.  I’ll make this snow my bitch.  Besides, it’s not even snowing, and I’ll only stay part of the day. I’ll leave early.  I won’t let Mother Nature tell me what I can and can’t do.

Guess who’s laughing now?

Mother-fucking-Nature.

Bitch.

Oh, I got to work ok.  Sure it took me 2 hours, but I effing made it.  Ha.  I showed her.  I left work early too.  11:00 early.

I got within 10 miles of my house, and couldn’t see the road the snow was falling and blowing so bad I couldn’t see a thing.  Not to mention the roads were anything but cleared.

I had to admit defeat.

And anyone who knows me, knows that pisses me off.

I called the girls.  Told them go across the yard to the neighbor’s and stay there.  The neighbor agreed, she would keep the girls warm, fed, safe and entertained.  I am just sick about it.  Sick that I thought I had something to prove and I should have just kept my ass at home with my girls.  Sure they’re having a blast, having a sleep over with the neighbor, but fuck I should have known better.

I found a ride back to the nearest hotel, some 15 miles back where I just came from.

I got the last room.

I am riding out the storm tonight.  I am safe.  I am warm.  I have cable.  And internet.  Of course my laptop?  Is at home.  I am using my iPod Touch, and the computer in the hotel lobby.

Brian found out I was in the hotel and has been texting me.  He tried to get his truck out to get to my car, and possibly get to me.  He didn’t even make it out of his driveway before he was stuck, and needed the tractor to get his truck out so he could go back home.

I’ll ride it out tonight, and hopefully the snow will let up and the road crews will get out and sometime tomorrow I’ll make it home.  Until then?  I’m camped out in a king size bed, with cable, and internet.
