Just a sneak peek at the place I call Home.

I don’t have any pictures of the house I moved out of.  For a whole lot of reasons. Chief among them? I *hated* that house.

But it was what I could afford at the time.

It was a roof over our heads, a place to sleep.

It was an embarrassment.

Or a stepping stone on my way to where I am now.

I only have pictures of the new place taken with my cell phone.  Taken the day I signed the lease and got the keys.

My kitchen with the rockin' cabinets that everyone loves.

This is my kitchen with the cabinets that everyone loves.  It has a double sink, which may not seem like a big deal but it makes doing dishes more likely to happen.  Don’t ask.

To the left of the green door (which goes out to a really cute deck, big enough for a bbq grill) is washer/drier hook ups.  So I will be looking for inexpensive bare bone washer/dryer to put there after the first of the year.

The bathroom with awesome checkerboard tile flooring

The bathroom is seriously twice the size of the one we left behind. It has a sink with a vanity and a shower.  Yes, that is a big deal because the previous bathroom? No shower. Seriously.  Told you it was a shit-hole, embarrassment.  This one?  10 times better than where we left.  The shelves over the toilet? Came with.  Just outside the bathroom is a hall closet, that with a set of shelves put in there will work as a towel closet.

My bedroom the first night, bed ready

This is my bedroom the first night.  The bed is there and set up.  The dresser was there, but no drawers yet.  The next day?  All moved in. Not settled. Not anywhere near settled.  But everything we own is there.  Most of it in my living room right now.

So, this is just a sneak peek at the new homestead.  I am so freakin’ proud of this one.  Once I get settled, and find my living room, the floor, the furniture, I will get new pictures put up.

My Saturday Morning

It’s 6:30 Saturday morning.  Brian left for work an hour ago.  He opened today so he’ll be home for dinner tonight.  And off tomorrow.

But this isn’t about him.

It’s 6:30 Saturday morning and I am sitting in his bed, catching up on some blog reading, comment replying, email sending, things I haven’t been doing this week because I’ve been busy moving.

I took last night off from the unpacking and putting stuff away.  I was tired and sore and it will all be there today when I go home to start on the mess yet again.

So, I have a cup of coffee, and a package of the best god damn cookies those magical Keebler Elves ever made.

Don’t judge me people.

In a short little bit I will get dressed and go home, I will continue the great hunt for my jeans, which I have been

unable to find since I moved.  Of course I have lots of ‘skinny’ jeans but when you start your Saturday mornings with a package of cheesecake cookies and coffee in bed, skinny jeans just aren’t an option.

Later, Brian’s mom and I will go out and look at a few things for the girls for Christmas.  Then I will go spend a few more hours at my glorious new apartment, putting more things away, putting more of my world to order.

I am dying to go shopping and buy new things for the new place.  Lots of prettys, and smell good things. Candles, and potpourri. I don’t have the money right now, so I’ll just have to wait it out.

If you want to send house warming gifts, please send candles.

Or picture frames.

Or just gift cards and I’ll go shopping.

A cold front is blowing in today.  Rather blusterly actually.

And yes, that is a word.

I am thankful today that I am in the new place.

With new windows.

That keep the cold wind out.

And a furnace.

Instead of wall unit heaters in each individual room.

Curtains.

I need curtains.

And Curtain rods.

Add those to the list of things I need to buy.

This is what my Saturday will look like for the most part.  I used to hate cleaning house.  But then again, I used to hate my house.

Now?  I can’t wait to get home and start putting more things away.

Oh, and the Keebler Fudge Shoppe Cheesecake Middles cookies and coffee for breakfast?

Heaven.
