At 3:30 this morning, when Brian’s brother and sister-in-law got ready to head out the door in search of the perfect Christmas gifts at maim-whoever-gets-in-your-way prices, I rolled over and went back to sleep.
I understand the excitement and the rush of starting the Christmas shopping season. I get it. I just have no desire to stand outside in the cold for any length of time just to save a few bucks.
Besides, I never have any money to start Christmas shopping this early.
My sister celebrates the same way. For those of you who can’t see that link, my sister says “I love my annual Spend Nothing Friday”.
I would have gladly gotten the Christmas tree today except that I need a new one (if I’m going to get another artificial one) and I would need to buy one if I go with a real one. Again, takes money I just don’t have. Besides, my house is still in a whole lot of boxes, so adding Christmas mayhem to it right now doesn’t make a whole lot of sense.
Brian and I will do our Christmas shopping like we always do. We’ll pick a day about a week before Christmas, and go out and buy everyone’s gifts. One trip. Done. We usually have an idea what we’re going to get everyone, so it’s just a matter of picking it up.
So, to all of you who went out this morning, I totally understand your excitement. Just understand I happen to love the feel of my bed much more than I love the feeling of scoring a great price on a gift. Hope you all got all the bargains you went in search of. Really.
Now, what’d you get me????
