Today

Today we woke to snow falling.  It was supposed to be just a dusting.  So far, it’s closer to an inch plus.  At least it’s not the weather clusterfuck of the west coast.  I mean, snow is sort of a given here in MO.  But 15 feet?  I can’t wrap my mind around that.

Today, I am taking the girls out for our last holiday shopping hurrah.  I have started a tradition with them in the past couple of years.  I give them each $20, and let them shop and spend that money on gifts for each other.  I think it teaches them, not only the value of a dollar, how to get the most for your buck, how to budget, but it also teaches them the joy of giving.  Every year they surprise me with how unselfish and how giving they are towards each other.  At least for one day of the year.
